This one comes from who knows where, but Jim likes funny songs and this one is his attempt to fill that bill. He pleads the 5th - says it has nothing to do with his life or his wife.

She's right outside the door
Lyrics & Music by Jim Cowles - April 2011
Every man has been there once or twice
This one was inspired by our banjo player, Kyle Ellison Kyle told Jim,"I might have lost my sex appeal, but I still have my bourbon." Just a song waiting to be written, so Jim wrote it:

Still have my bourbon
Lyrics & Music by Jim Cowles - April 2011
"Old age is golden, or so it's been said"
This tune was definitely channeled by some late, great country artist/songwriter. Anyway, it's Jim's attempt at writing a true, died in the wool, country song:

I'm up and gone away
Lyrics & Music by Jim Cowles- March 2011
Sometimes you just want to get away
Inspired by Bob Hill, retired Courier-Journal columnist and local celebrity gardner & nurseryman. In a column shortly before retiring, he wrote of his love for his old blue pick-up truck. It wasn't much to look at and it smoked a little, but it filled the bill for anything Bob wanted to do. Great fodder for Jim! This one is dedicated to Bob and his wife Janet, who now enjoy running the "Hidden Hill Nursery" in Utica, Indiana (a beautiful place to visit).

I'm her lovin' fool
Lyrics & Music by Jim Cowles - May 2009
Love takes many forms
Yet another, written for and inspired by Bob and Janet Hill's beautiful "Hidden Hill" in Utica, IN. A peaceful place, full of flowers, plants, art and just plain fun. If you haven't visited, you should. This one performed by the Potluck Ramblers is entitled,
Heaven's Hidden Hill
Lyrics & Music by Jim Cowles - August 2007
Truly worth a visit

Potluck performing at Hidden Hill Bluegrass Festival
Inspired by Ricky Nelson's 1962 hit, "Hello Mary Lou." Jim's version tells the honest to goodness truth about Mary Lou - she wasn't such a great catch after all! Here's Potluck performing,

She didn't turn out to be what Ricky thought
And this last tune was inspired by Kentucky's best know pioneer, Daniel Boone. While Stephen Foster was inspired by his visit to "My Old Kentucky Home," Daniel must have had some of the same feelings for his "New Kentucky Home." This song attempts to capture those feelings in words and music. Land of beauty & inspiration
